36” x 24,” acrylic on canvas
Growing up I spent a lot of time fishing and paddling in the tidal marshes of the Westport River on the south coast of Massachusetts. I now live in southern Maine, near the Spurwink and Scarborough marshes (among many others). This painting celebrates the beautiful late afternoon pink light on a marsh, and the colorful reflections on the water. It’s not a painting of a specific marsh, but captures the peaceful quiet feeling of paddling through a marsh. There’s a lot of texture and movement in the water, which I painted with a rubber spatula. This painting is 36” X 24,” and is framed in a birch floater frame.
