I watch the sun rise over Casco Bay in Maine every day (or at least every day that we aren’t fogged in!) Every day brings different sunrise colors, cloud formations, and level of wave activity – no two sunrises are ever the same. My stories on Instagram (@marciacrumleyart) feature a lot of photos of these daily sunrises, and end I up painting many of them as well. This original painting has a red violet underpainting that I left visible throughout the painting, to harmonize the colors and enhance the color vibrations.
